They are also going to use this tour to organize a seminar for all the queens in the region. The topic is “Enhancing your Personal and Corporate Image” facilitated by consultants from Sharing Skills Consults.

EASTERN QUEENS CONDOLENCE MESSAGE TO MD

On behalf of the Reg. Executive and the entire members of the Power Queens Club, Eastern, I wish to extend profound condolences to the Managing Director, Mr. Cephas Gakpo and family.

We know it's tragic and heartbreaking to lose a wonderful son and a colleague like Selorm.
But some things in life, one has to accept.

Although it is difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow.

We are with you during this time of grief.

I wonder if people like us can feel the presence of this great son of Africa in Ghana. I have many questions for the organizing committee.....

• Is he coming for an excursion, weekend relaxation with his family or what?
• Why is he coming on a Friday night?
• How many people will see him 'face to face'?
• What percentage of our total population will have the chance to listen to him LIVE!!??
• Wouldnt his presence rather affect economic activities since shops, offices, restaurants and even feul stations must be closed for 'security reasons' aaaaaaaaabah!Hmmmmmm...asemsebe!

A DAY WITH THE CUSTOMER

As part of its week’s celebration, the Eastern Region Power Queens Club organized mass disconnection, door to door customer education and a grand durbar at the Koforidua Jackson’s Park to interact with customers. The occasion was christened ‘A day with the Customer’.
In attendance were the Regional Director, Eastern and his entire Regional Management team as well as District Managers and Power Queens National Secretary, Mrs. Helena Appiah-Kubi.
The Guest Speaker was Mr. M. F. Biney, Divisional Manager, Sales and Marketing who deputized for the Director of Customer Services.
In her welcome address, the President of the Power Queens, Eastern, Ms. Margaret Baddoo reiterated ECG’s efforts at delivering quality services to its customers and appealed that rather than seeing ECG in a bad light, the occasion should afford customers an opportunity to ask all the questions plaguing their minds about the operations of the Company.
In a special message, the Regional Director, Mr. K. Arthur Forson informed the gathering of the series of network extension and improvement that is being undertaken to improve upon the quality of supply. He also talked about the extension of prepayment metering to Nkawkaw and Akim Oda before the end of the year.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. Biney on his part, took the customers through the Call Centre operations and the advantages that come with the usage of prepayment meters.
During the open forum, customers made enquiries about the acquisition of separate meters, prepayment, Minor Fault interventions and interruptions in power supply, compound houses and prepaid metering among others.
Answers to these questions were adequately provided by the Regional Director and his team with support from the Guest Speaker.
Those who asked questions were given free quality energy saving bulbs.
The programme for the day was interspersed with rich cultural display by a Kete Group from Oyoko and a drama by the Power Queens Drama Group to showcase the frustrations customers go through in the acquisition of meters.
In a closing remark, the queenmother of New Juaben, Nana Yaa Dani II, who chaired the occasion commended the Eastern Power Queens in particular, and ECG, Eastern Region in general for such a wonderful educational programme.
She urged the Queens not to rest on their oars but continue with their good work. Earlier on the same day, members of the Club were given 20minutes free air time on Eastern Fm, 105.1mhz to inform listeners about the activities of the Club and the purpose of the day,s programme at the Jacksons Park

POWER QUEENS STORM JACKSONS PARK

Nkabom! Odo!!!.....This was the new version of the Power Queens Club's motto translated by Nana Yaa Dani II, the queenmother of New Juaben Traditional Area. She was the chairperson for the mammoth customer durbar organized by the Club at the Jackson's park dubbed..."A day with the customer"
The main objective of the durbar was to give our customers the opportunity to ask questions bothering them about the operations of ECG.
The customers came.......asked questions and presented their problems........got the answers and solutions......and left with quality energy saving bulbs......
Though we could not give all the customers the chance to present their 'cases' due to time factor, we collected their 'petitions' and contact numbers and gave them bulbs.

The Eastern Region Queens have adopted the above theme as their theme for the year. They have also drawn the following time table to mobilize revenue and interact with customers at their doorstep.

Power Queens On The Move!!!

The members of Power Queens Club, Eastern, met last Saturday, 18th April, 2009 to discuss how best they can maintain the first position in revenue collection for this year. Last year, Eastern Region topped the list of all the regions to be in the first position with 100.2% followed by Accra East with a 99.9%. Hmmmm....that's very close!!. Its rather unfortunate that Western Region with strong and active Power Queens who were 1st in 2007 became last!

Will the first be the last as they always say????

No! we, the Eastern queens will not allow that to happen to us this year. We will move forward and even exceed the 100.2%. What can we do then....???? Customer education and mass disconnection.

Strategy adopted:

Regional queens will join the queens in the following districts for intensive mass disconnection 'galore'

Tafo, Oda, Asamankese, Suhum, Akwatia, Mpreaso and Nawkaw.

All queens should come aboard to uphold and defend our position on the Revenue Chat! TSOOOOOOBOI!!!!

BEST WORKER AWARDS 2008

ECG organised its 6th Best Worker Awards ceremony yesterday, 12th December, 2008. Nineteen (19) best workers were awarded with certificates and cash prizes by the company.
The Special Guest of Honour was Mr C S Tetteh, the Director of Finance and currently the Oversight Director for the Eastern Region.
This year, only three queens were part of the award winners. This is only about 16% of the total number of the award winners.
Folks...., luckily, I was part of the award winners..o...o...o."won't you clap for me?" clap! calp! clap!
Fellow Queens, please tighten your belts and work harder to help the company to move forward!!! Who knows...???? You may also grab an award.

Royal thought for the day

It’s easy to see the evidence of this flawed data: perpetually worried expressions, stressed-out kids, wasted gifts with too many charges for the clothes and beauty products that promised to make us look perfect. This can’t be the life God created us for.How can we know and enjoy the special gifts God has given us? What does it mean to be God’s beloved? How can we cultivate godly confidence?

New Regional Director for Eastern Region

The Power Queens Executive visited the new Regional Director for the Eastern Region, Mr K. Arthur Forson in his office this afternoon to officially introduce themselves to him and also to give him 'akwaaba' to the region.

He responded that he had earlier wanted to meet all the identifiable bodies in the main office but due to the budget settings he decided to postpone it. All the same he was grateful that we have taken the first step to meet him. He continued that, he believes in good human relationship because it is the foundation of every successful endeavour. According to him, without it, the availability of the best machinery and equipments cannot help the Company to achieve its goals and objectives.

He also believes in the informal way of communication. The flow is not going to be always downwards or upwards but both up and down.

The President capitalised on that and informed him about the up-coming 20th anniversary of the Power Queens Club which starts from the 22nd September to 28th September, 2008.

We also made him aware that the Queens will seriously embark on revenue mobilization and energy conservation so that he, the RD will know that 'we are here'... Ha ha ha ha!....OR.......... what do you think??????

Operation Stress Release

The newly elected National Executive of the Power Queens Club organized their first national excursion on the 12th July, 2008. All the Power Queens members in the ten (10) regions met at the Eastern Regional Office in Koforidua. It was a 'voyage' to the Akaa and the Boti Falls. The queens came in their numbers to enjoy themselves.

The atmosphere wasn't for the queens alone. Some queens could not leave their husbands and kiddies behind and therefore brought them along to share the excitement.

The managing Director, Mr Jude Adu-Amankwah was here to support the Queens. Could you believe he was in Power Queens t-shirt??? Yeh!! Our RD could not be left out and he was here with the RE to join in the fun.

The National President, Queen Miranda thanked the queens for their participation and said that the purpose of the excursion was to release stress from our hard working activities in the offices thus " Operation Stress Release". She pleaded with the queens to change their mode of operation and concentrate on the work to improve upon the image of ECG.

Tv3 was here to capture the event and we all moved in a convoy to the sites.

We enjoyed the trip and really viewed the handy works of the Almighty God.
