7TH BIENNIAL CONGRESS REPORT ON ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY EASTERN REGION.

The Regional Executive came into office in May, 2008. Since then, the club has made considerable impact in the region not withstanding the numerous challenges. Our vision was to make the club a vibrant one with the participation of all Queens so that our motto “Unity and Love” will have real meaning. We are proud to say that, by God’s Grace and the active participation of all the queens from our 13 districts, we have made considerable achievement in this direction.

MEMBERSHIP
Our numerical strength has increased. New Queens have joined us through appointments and transfers. The total number of queens has increased from sixty-five to seventy-three as at August 2009.

MEETINGS
Attendance at meetings has improved as compared to the previous years. Members now attend in their numbers and make meaningful contributions as well. Power Queens Representatives have been appointed in all the 13 districts to liaise with the Regional Executive for effective communication.

REVENUE COLLECTION:
The Queens have been actively involved in revenue collection. Special revenue collection programmes were organized in the major districts like Tafo, Oda, Nkawkaw and Mpraeso in the form of mass disconnection and customer education.
Due to the strategies adopted by the Eastern Queens last year in revenue mobilization, the region became first on the annual revenue chat and was awarded a 15 seater bus by the Company.

CUSTOMER CARE
Special programmes to enhance customer satisfaction were organized to sensitize customers on energy conservation and the operations of the Company. We visited Churches, Markets, Radio Stations and Door to Door interaction with customers. A mammoth customer durbar was organized at the Jacksons Park last May to give our customers the opportunity to interact with management on issues bothering them about the operations of the Company.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
Eastern Queens believe in Self development and Women Empowerment. 11 Queens are currently pursing degree programmes through distance education. 12 are pursing part time HND programmes at the Koforidua Polytechnic. Six (6) Queens have completed their first degrees and HNDs and are still waiting for upgrading.
Training programme on Diet Management was organized for the Queens to have an idea of how to eat right for a healthy life. We also had representatives from the Forever Living Product (FLP) Company, Accra, to educate members on how to make extra income to supplement their salaries.
An internet blog,
www.easternqueensclub@blogspot.com has been created by the region to educate the queens on how to communicate effectively on the net and publish items on the blog.

HEALTH CARE
A number of health related programmes were organized during the period under review.
10 Kilometers Health walk was organized on World Heart Day; Health Talk on Hepatitis B and proper diet; and Cervical Screening for all the Queens.

DONATIONS
The club has been paying its dues to society to put smiles on the needy. We Visited the Tomony Orphanage at Kwahu Obomeng and Hour of Grace Orphanage at Huhunya. Various items and cash donations were presented to these two orphanages.
Donations were also given to Mattew 25, an NGO that houses AIDS patients.

AWARDS
The queens have not been left out in the Best Worker Awards Scheme. 10 Queens have received Best Worker Awards since 2006.
